Whether your child aspires to be a world ranked player or just wants to learn the lifelong sport of tennis, The Riviera Tennis Academy is the place for them in our varied program choices.

We believe; to become an excellent tennis player requires hardcore drilling, as well as a fun practice. It requires tournament and match play experience, fitness, private lessons and profiling. Each part of this total development is equally important.

Pee wee Hot Shots (Red Dot) : Mondays – Thursdays 3:15-4pm

This class is specially formatted for the little ones in your life. If you are looking to have your child get active while having fun, this is the perfect class for them. Our student-to-coach ratio allows for plenty of individualized instruction. This helps your child grasp the basics of tennis at an early age and gets them engaged in the sport with other little ones. Ages 4-6

Future Stars (Red Dot) : Mondays – Thursdays 4-5pm

Players in this format are being introduced to the proper grip, preparation and swing path for each stroke as well as learning the basic footwork patterns and stances. Tactically, red players are acquiring the skills of consistency, placement, and basic spin as they learn to control the ball and rally. To begin points, red players are developing a toss and rhythmic service motion to minimize double faults and learning to apply the proper ground-stroke technique. Ages 5-8

Grand Slam (Orange Dot) : Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 4-5:30pm

Orange players need to develop greater racquet-head speed to control the ball with improved pace, spin, height and depth. Tactically, orange players are developing high percentage patterns from the baseline and improving net transition skills on a larger court. Orange players are progressing in their ability to hold serve with greater spin, power and control and are learning to read the serve and adjust the size of their back swing on the return accordingly. Ages 7-10

Main Draw (Green Dot) : Mondays – Thursdays 5-6:30pm

Designed for the advanced beginner who is older elementary to middle-school aged. Players should be able to rally from baseline and demonstrate a strong understanding of the fundamental strokes of tennis. We will emphasize game strategy while using fun drills and point play. Ages 8-12

Academy Prep Levels 1 & 2 (Yellow Ball) : Mondays – Fridays 4-6pm

Academy Prep is tailored to our students' individual needs and is a comprehensive approach to technical and tactical training. The class is divided into two levels. Level one is for older players that are newer to the sport and have not had much instruction or match play experience. Level two players should have a few years of in-depth playing experience. These athletes should be competing in tournaments or currently competing in USTA tournaments or UTR match play. UTR levels 1-4.9 Ages 12-18

High Performance : Mondays & Wednesdays 5:30-7:30pm

Coaches Fabio Machado and Sean Bertram lead athletes through an intense practice with on and off court training to ensure that high level tennis players perform at his/her highest level. Match Play Offerings

Introduction to Match Play (Red, Orange, Green Dot): Sundays 1-3pm (Begins 9/8/19, off 9/15, resumes 9/22)

Red, Orange, and Green Dot competitions give students a chance to show off their skills after a week of practicing! Students get head-to-head match play and climb the club's junior rankings. The main goal for each level is to teach kids how to play on their own, so that in the future they will not need parents or coaches participating in their matches.

Red Dot players use smaller courts and nets and have the option to drop and hit, or serve to begin rallies. Players learn to call balls in or out, keep score, and the basics of good sportsmanship. Lots of fun for beginners! A great introduction to the sport!

Orange Dot players also use a slightly smaller court, but a regular net. Students should be able to serve and rally to a greater degree than Red Ball players. This level focuses on developing basic game strategies and tactics, positioning, and good sportsmanship.

Green Dot players use a full-sized court and net. Players are expected to get their serves in consistently and already know basic scoring, strategies, and tactics. Here players are developing more advanced skills that can propel them into yellow ball tournament and high school play.

UTR Match Play (Universal Tennis Rating) : Fridays 6-8pm, Saturdays & Sundays 1-4pm

The Universal Tennis Rating (Powered by Oracle) is the global gold standard for all tennis players which reflects their current skill level based on actual performance. It is the world's only purely results-based rating system in tennis, which rates all players on the same 16-point scale regardless of age, gender or location. We offer singles & doubles match play for students capable of serving, rallying, and managing a match without outside assistance.
