The Riviera Tennis Club
The Riviera Tennis Club is one of the oldest and largest tennis clubs in the Western United States. Formerly a polo ground and site of the 1932 Olympic polo competitions, it was repurposed in 1963 for racquet sports and today features 21 hard courts, 2 clay courts and 2 ball machine courts. Like our famous golf course, the tennis club is also a championship setting.
Riviera has one of the largest tennis teaching program of any tennis club in the region. There are 10 teaching pros and 3 hitters available exclusively to members and their families to provide tennis lessons.
Our club also has one of the most engaged memberships of any tennis club in the Western United States. We have active members ranging in skill from international touring professionals and nationally ranked juniors to beginners. Our members always have a match. The Riviera Tennis Club devotes significant resources to arranging games and making introductions.
Tennis For All Ages & Abilities
The club has an active calendar of social events, inter-club competitions and competitive leagues. Men and women of all ages as well as our juniors have a variety of options to choose from each week.
Our Tennis Club Gives Back to Los Angeles
The members of The Riviera Tennis Club formed a non-profit tennis foundation called the Reach Out Program. It’s mission is to provide tennis opportunities and training for disadvantaged youth in Los Angeles. The foundation also helps create an environment that encourages these children to pursue their academic education.
Through the Reach Out Program the city’s youth are able to participate in Tennis Fun Days and summer programs at the club. In addition the foundation donates tennis equipment and has even set up a scholarship fund.
Years ago, a pair of very talented youngsters participated in the program. You might have heard their names once or twice before. Venus and Serena Williams are alumni of the the Reach Out Program. We’re very proud to have played a small role in their story and we hope to continue to make an impact, both on and off the court, for many more to come.
